What a downer.

Somehow the only time I have ever broken a rod on a fish was a friends 10 weight on a 2 to 3 pound saltwater shad. Pretty weird. Of course after typing that I am jinxed and every rod I touch is now doomed for at least the next month.testflycarpinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01438987908906957352noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6246992199705906769.post-48783907462981869162012-05-22T12:13:31.427-07:002012-05-22T12:13:31.427-07:00Well, great fishing Lonny, and we have carp that I...Well, great fishing Lonny, and we have carp that I think are pursuing bluegill fry, course fish babies as well, and they usually muddy the water badly with long fast moving strings of bubbles. I catch them with a differnt fly but twitched back fast. As for the rod, I have broken 6 that I can think of, two landing fish, one casting, one as I rigged up, one trying to pull stuck ferrules apart, one by backing over an unknown loose line with with my chair. There may be more. My middle boy broke a 3 wt. Sage LL given to me by my TU Chapter, twice, Sage kindly repaired them. The rest, I have had no problems with the return policy or the process involved. Those no fault warranties though controversial are in my mind worth their weight in gold. My only wish is that I get a repaired section, not a new rod quickly sent back. I hope in those cases they did the best they could to recycle the rod back to kid's organizations.

GreggGregghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02623587945737239141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6246992199705906769.post-6325415807240320722012-05-22T06:18:26.163-07:002012-05-22T06:18:26.163-07:00I broke a TFO over the weekend as well. This will be my third rod that I have sent back - all to different manufacturers.

Generally, the process is about the same, only the handling fee is different. $30 is actually on the lower side of average. I think the most aggravating return was the Grandt rod that I returned. I live a half hour from their office and would have gladly driven there to save the money of shipping it to them, but they refuse to accept it unless it's shipped - aggravating.BrookfieldAnglerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07990751656565622220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6246992199705906769.post-51883798429764856672012-05-21T21:17:35.702-07:002012-05-21T21:17:35.702-07:00Welcome to th world of carp and broken rods. I was using the fly two days ago, tossing it right on the edge of a natural pillow of cottonwood, but I wasnt able to hook up as the carp would just push the fly away. I think with a bit more practice I can get them to hook up. Being able to predict their movement is key as the floating line really spooks them. Let me know if you have any luck.
LonnyLonnyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03932816953091743540noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6246992199705906769.post-43339442113716711362012-05-19T21:28:33.780-07:002012-05-19T21:28:33.780-07:00OK, see the white parachute in the picture now, th...OK, see the white parachute in the picture now, thanks that looks like just the ticket.
